About Me

Signs of Change Counseling was formed in 2015 and focuses on providing individual and family counseling services to children, teens and adults. I graduated with my Master’s in Social Work from Gallaudet University in 2005. I am fluent in American Sign Language and have worked with the deaf and hard of hearing community since 2003. Since receiving my degree, I have worked in a variety of settings including community and county mental health centers as well as in private practice. Additionally, I have previously worked at a residential school for the deaf and in Prince William County Public Schools providing school social work services. Since 2010 I have provided individual, family and group counseling to children, teens and adults in a private practice setting.

I utilize a variety of counseling techniques and approaches including cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and play therapy. All of these approaches are evidence based and considered best counseling practices. I use both directive and non-directive play therapy techniques as well as expressive arts techniques in my work with children from ages three to twelve.

I live locally with my husband, two small children, and two huskies.
